Issue with monitoring Win 2012 service

    Hi,
since windows 2012 Server, i got always the value 6 (stopped) back, when i try to monitoring the windows update service wuauserv. This issue is only on Windows 2012 Server, on every older Win OS the windows update services monitoring for wuauserv works great.

    Is this a known issue?

    I use Zabbix Agent 2.0.9, 32bit

Best thanks for all your help!

Silly question - Are you completely sure that service wuauserv on Windows Server 2012 works? By default, it turned off.

For a little bit more information, check the part "Updating Windows Server 2012 Core" in article "Windows Server 2012 Core for dummies" (sorry about impolite name of article)
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

Issue with monitoring Win 2012 service

      Hi aib,
      thank you for your answer!

Unfortunately yes, I'm completely sure. How you can see on my attachements, the windows update service is named wuauserv and is up and running.

      Any other idea?

          Hi,
          yes i think so.

Since Win 2012 Server the Startup Type was changed to "manual". When I change the Startup Type to automatic, ZABBIX will detecet the value 0 like before.

Ups, my observation is not correct!

The current service state in zabbix is actually 6 although the service running on the Win 2012 R2 64bit server.

What zabbix client do you use? I use 2.0.9 32bit.

I tried the same thing with a 64 bit Zabbix 2.2.1 agent. Same problem. It starts correct with windows update service state 0 and after a while, i get state 6

              any other ideas?

                Zabbix has done everything right!

Windows 2012 R2 have a scheduled task, to start and stop the Windows Update Service. That's is the point!

Strange that this problem has no one except me.

Perhaps it depends on server configuration?
I can't tell because I am non of server admins in my company.

This problem occurs due to CPU use a lot of resources during updating system. In this case, the speed of the system goes to slower. To solve this problem we use three solutions.
Method 1: In this solution, Windows take time for searching for new updates, so the Windows will wait for the updating process.
Method 2: Uninstall Windows updating : firstly Windows logo key +R for the run box>type control>under view by>Large icons>Progarming and features>View installed updates>right click on the recent update and click uninstall.
Method 3: Stopping Wuauserv service: In this solution, you will stop more updating searching. FirstlyWindows logo key+R for the run box >write Services.msc>duble click Windows update>set startup type Disable and stop then press ok. Close this services then restart the system. In this way, you can easily solve the problem.
