    Zabbix Appliance

    Hi All

    Just wondering

We use the zabbix appliance (2.0.11) in our live environment. I know it is not done but since we do not have time and experience to keep our own nix-servers up-to-date we decided to use the appliance and that has been working fine.

Since the 2.2 release the database is changed and the upgrade of the database should be done automatically. In order to make that happen I upgrade the zabbix installation on our 2.0.11 to a 2.2 version manually so it could change our db and we could easily migrate our db to a new appliance.

The upgrade of zabbix seems to go fine but the database upgrade is not starting automatically. After some troubleshooting i noticed that the zabbix_server.log shows this

1987:20140430:124255.240 Starting Zabbix Server. Zabbix 2.0.8 (revision ).

although it has been upgraded to 2.2.3 and it show 2.2.3 everywhere except for the server log.

could it be that the zabbix version on an appliance is not upgradeable? Or what the hell could be wrong as well. there are no errors in the compliation and the make install works fine as well.

    any help appreciated

IMHO problem is with location of your old/new binaries:
Old binaries are in /usr/bin or /usr/sbin
New binaries (compiled from source) are in /usr/local/bin or /usr/local/sbin
Your startup scripts contain old paths, so old version is started.

(Re)move your old binaries (zabbix_*) and point your zabbix startup scripts (/etc/init.d/zabbix_*) to new binaries.
