ITEM.LASTVALUE1 problem in Zabbix 4

In Zabbix 3, {ITEM.LASTVALUE1} kept the counter updated in the trigger that I had (a count of connected users).

Since updating to 4.0, the value stays at the count observed when the trigger was tripped.

This was covered in ticket https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-...n-after-7-days for Zabbix 3.

Has the functionality of LASTVALUE1 changed in Zabbix 4?

PS - I found https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...ed_by_location which says that the functionality has been changed. How do we get the original functionality back? There doesn't seem to be any difference between VALUE1 and LASTVALUE1 now. The word "LAST" infers an up to date value.
