Inventory

First, as you can tell from my post count I am a newbie to Zabbix and Linux.
With that in mind here is my situation.
When I go to the Inventory page I see...Profile for this host is missing

Why? How do I add it?

I tried searching the forum with no luck, maybe I used a bad search method. I also do not see anything referring to this in the docs.

Because, you haven't add this profile.
You can add profile for an host, when you create a new host you have an options for this.

well zabbix is poor in documentation

Thanks for the info. I do have a group called test and a host called laptop. I just found out that if I select ALL for group and ALL for laptop the message goes away but I still have no readings. What am I missing.


Under monitoring I am able to see values and view the graphs so I know it is connecting to the laptop.

if I'm understanding what you wrote....
Configuration -> Hosts -> Create Host
Name: blah blah
Groups: ....
.
.
.
and below, have a checkbox with "use profile", mark this.

Under monitoring I am able to see values and view the graphs so I know it is connecting to the laptop.

I actually just figured out how dumb I was before reading your reply. Thanks for taking the time to help me out. For some reason I thought that Zabbix inventoried the host on it's own. Does anyone know if that is coming in a future release?
