...just need a a sanity check on my reading comprehension around pages 41-43.

* The sample dashboard screenshot on page 41 doesn't show the "System Information" table referenced on page 42 with the statement "The dashboard isn't too exciting right now, except maybe for that table labeled System information".

** More importantly it seems to me that the text on page 43, the info numbers cited don't match up to the System information widget screenshot on page 42

Quote "It also knows some basic things about Zabbix's configuration—there are
76 hosts configured in total. Wait, what's that? We have only set it up and have not
configured anything; how can there be 76 hosts already? Let's take a closer look at the
DETAILS column. These values correspond to the descriptions in parentheses located
in the PARAMETER column. So, there are 0 monitored hosts, 1 that is not monitored,
and 75 templates. Now that makes more sense—75 of those 76 are templates, not
actual hosts"

So from the screenshot for example, it should be 91 hosts showing with 7 enabled / 0 disabled / 84 Templates (not 76 which is # of items)??

Thx for the feedback

concerning the system information box you are right it's not in the screenshot but it is there when you install zabbix for the first time. Reason it was not in the screenshot is because pact found the screenshot with all boxes was not good enough (too small). hope this explains it

concerning the 2nd remark you are right probably this screenshot was added by me later by request and i forgot to remove templates hosts etc
the numbers should match with what you have when you do the clean setup.


I would encourage you to report the errors to packtpub they will most of the time reward you with a free ebook. It will then also be fixed in next versions of the book

Hi again,
Still the same book, found issues with wrong Chapter names and missing Chapter. In the preface on page 4 it states that Chapter 21 is "Visualizing Data with Graphs and Maps" but the table of contents says it is "Troubleshooting". It seems Chapter 9 is the similarly worded "Visualizing Data with Screens and Slideshows". It also states on page 4 that Chapter 22 is supposed to be "Monitoring Windows" but the table of contents says Chapter 22 is supposed to be "Being Part of the Community" which is what is actually there. I CAN'T FIND the "Monitoring Windows" chapter anywhere...(oops, I noticed now that the preface page says to download a PDF to get that chapter, however other references in the book for "Monitoring Windows" still points to Chapter 22 with no reference to that PDF).
