Proxy HA - best practices?

What alternatives you have for Zabbix Proxy High Availability? Is there a best practices cookbook? We have the option to have the proxies behind a load balancer or have a VIP. What do you recommend?

Any pointers to documentation about implementation would be appreciated!

for Zabbix Proxy server H.A.(within same D.C.), I would use pacemaker+drbd to failover IP and its running services(zabbix,db,disk replication) from node A to B.
