optional lld rules

I create 10 lld rules for our servers. however not every server has all the items defined in the rules. so zabbix will complain about "cannot create item. item with the same key XXXX already exists". although every thing works fine, I think this maybe not the best practice. I have see the explain in ZBX-10666 (https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-10666). but I wonder what's the correct method to deal with optional lld rules?

I didn't understand much of what you're trying to do. If you are receiving "cannot create item. item with the same key XXXX already exists", it's not because your server can't check it, it's because you're trying to create two keys with the same name. It is possible to remove itens from LLD, such as the LLD for disk storage or the LLD for Network interfaces.

my situation is like ZBX-10666. it's not about duplicate keys, the error message is misleading. it's about no return macro when discovery. I create custom scripts to return marco when discovery. I have tons of discovery item prototypes, but every server will return partial of the marcos which are relate to it. I don't like the error messages although it seems work fine.
