    Unable to Install Zabbix Agent

    Hello Everyone,

I am reaching out because I am in dire need of assistance. I am trying to install the Windows Zabbix Agent via the MSI - but upon doing so I get the following message:

Zabbix Agent (64-bit) Setup Wizard dned prematurely

Zabbix Agent (64-bit) Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run Setup Wizard again. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard.

I am not sure as to why this is happening but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

There is a quite a lot of options that can be at fault, can you please specify, after which step the setup crashes? Did you check event logs or .dmp files for information?

While you are at it, you might try to check if firewall on you station is enabled and of course if you are running installation with enough rights (as admin)

I have attached before the error, and after the error. In terms of the event logs I haven't found anything. We do have local firewall turned on - so maybe that's the issue but what I don't understand is it worked on one server, but then I tried to install it on 6 different servers and I consistently get the below error.

Was not succesfull with replicating the error, have you succeded with installation? If not, can you please try again and check Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application -> and the relevant info in the right side. Is there anything there?

I was able to succeed with the installation once, but after that any other server I try and install it on - fails. For event viewer I get the following issues:

Event 1: Beginning a Windows Installer transaction: C:\Users\username\Desktop\zabbix_agent-4.2.1-win-amd64-openssl.msi. Client Process Id: 3124.

          Event 2: Starting session 0 - ‎2019‎-‎05‎-‎02T12:57:09.825780300Z.

Event 3: Ending a Windows Installer transaction: C:\Users\username\Desktop\zabbix_agent-4.2.1-win-amd64-openssl.msi. Client Process Id: 3124.

          Event 4: Ending session 0 started ‎2019‎-‎05‎-‎02T12:57:09.825780300Z.

          Update:

I just installed on another server and it worked - so I am unable to get it to install on the DHCP Servers and the Domain Controllers.

Any update on this? Did you succeed? I am having a similar problem after uninstalling the agent and trying to re-install the agent.

I had this problem. Uninstall the App, then check services.msc. I found that even though the App was uninstalled the service remained. If it is running, stop the service, then from a CMD prompt run: sc delete "zabbix agent"

                  Thank you very much, GordonDavies.
                  That's work for me.
I 've done this on production server.
                  Thank you again.

So the problem was happening only after unsuccessful uninstall? And about Domain controllers is there any change there was some group policy that could've affected installations?

There was a similar problem, at first I could not understand what its essence was, but the solution was so banal that it was just a brain drain... I have the name of the machine itself was originally "user-PC" (PC-in Russian it was written ), as soon as I changed the name of the machine (of course rebut), then after that the agent zabbixa 5.2 got up like clockwork, without any errors.

Hello, open Windows PowerShell and run:

                    Code:
                    sc.exe delete "Zabbix Agent 2"
                    or
                    sc.exe delete "Zabbix Agent"
This will force you to remove the service. Then just install the zabbix agent again.

Excellent bro, this works for me when transfering agent version from 5.2 to 7.0.

this worked for me for agent 5.4.10 on multiple Windows Server machines that failed uninstall for some reason.
