Zabbix 4.2.1 Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS under VMware ESXi 6.5 always crashes

Hello

I transferred a Zabbix system from 3.2 / Ubuntu 14 LTS (running well but I need to upgrade the server HW) to Zabbix 4.2 / Ubuntu 18 LTS.
I am using mysql as database

After a couple of minutes or hours the VM is crashing if I start the zabbix_server service

I tried to deactivate most of the hosts but it doesn't change

I have no traces in zabbix server logs neither the syslog.
I need to reset the VM to access again.

Any similar issues ?
How to investigate the root cause ?

Depending on your post, I assume you have already made an upgrade to the system? Was it hardware or software, or were it both?

Try to increase the log level, by using log_level_increase, as described here: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...oncepts/server and were there any type of log entries in syslog?

Have you tried to monitor server performance prior to crashes?

1/ Yes I upgraded also the physical server (ESXI) which hosts the VM ( and upgrade vmware 6.0 to 6.5)

2/ I'll check with higher debug level

3/ I have zabbix agent running on it so I could investigate

I downgraded to ubuntu 16 LTS and Zabbix 4 LTS with exactly the same database / configuration and I have no more issue even with much more hosts activated

There is an issue with Ubuntu 18 but I found nothing in logs, even in mode debug

Hi Atushi

this was the case. As I cannot update the ESXI release, I used the workaround in the VM.vmx file as described in the link and it solved my issue, no more crash.

I did not really understand the link with zabbix server as I used other VM under unbuntu 18 on the same esxi without any issue and without applying the patch , but the most important it that is work fine now
