how to disable VMware virtual machines discovery?

we have some ESX servers we do not want to monitor Virtual machines under them but we have to monitor the ESX servers. Each time VMs are discovered again after I removed them from hosts.

how can I do it? I used the template vmware.

Hello!

I see two options for your situation. Here will be some pointers:
Option 1

1. Go to Configuration -> Templates -> Template Virt VMware -> Discovery
2. Disable Discover VMware VMs discovery rule.
3. (!) This will affect all ESX hosts under this template so the VMs under these hypervisors will not be discovered anymore.

Option 2

1. Go to Configuration -> Templates -> Template Virt VMware
2. Clone the template without hosts and give it a name like Template Virt VMware w/o discovery
3. Save the cloned template and go to Discovery rules for this template
4. Disable the discovery rules you don't want to be executed
5. Apply this template to the specific ESX hosts
