Ping both ipv4 and ipv6 address on a host

    Hi

I have several hosts with both ipv4 and ipv6 address configured.
I would like to do ICMP ping-test on both addresses. What is the best way to do this?

When I´m trying to assign more than one icmppingsec to a host - with intention to change the "Host interface" in these items I get the message:

##Template "linux" with item key "icmppingsec" already linked to host##

What is best practice to monitor both ipv4 and ipv6 on a host ??

Do you mind to create a second template - for example "Template ICMP v6 PING" and configure all IP v6 ping parameters in that template.
Then you can assign both templates to the same host. Just be sure that you use the different Key name for IP v4 ping and for IP v6 ping.
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

      Different keys

      Hi

Yes, different keys, on the ping items, is the thing. I see now that these items will help me do what I want:

      icmppingsec
      icmppingsec[]
      icmppingsec[{MACRO}]

      Case closed.
