Get the maintenance status of the hypervisors via VCenter API?

We are using the VMWare discovery templates from Zabbix. (Zabbix Version 3.4 and 4.2.) I would like to extract the hypervisor's maintenance state from WMWare in order to later create a Zabbix-maintenance (via Zabbix API).
Is there a way to extend VMWare discovery templates in order to get the maintenance status of this hypervisor?
