    Notifications per Email

    Hi,

I'm new und not the best in english. I hope you can help me nevertheless.

I configured the notifications like the tutorial here:

    Administration|Mediatypes:

    SMTP-Server I have my own email-adress
SMTP-HELO I have the server which is zabbix installed
    SMTP-EMail-Absender I have [email protected]

So I restart a host and the ping goes to PROBLEM but no email arrive.

    Hello and welcome!

Here are some things you can check:
    1. Does your SMTP server require authentication with username and password? If yes, then you have to use some custom emailing script for Zabbix notifications to work.
    2. Go to Administration -> Audit -> select Actions (from top right dropdown) and look for some error messages. Zabbix will probably give you some clues what is wrong there.

    Best Regards,
    Ingus

I am not an Exchange expert so I cannot give you any useful recommendations about it, sorry.

Either please google on this issue or just wait here for answer from someone who has done this before.

        Best Regards,
        Ingus

          okay, thanks.

One thing i think is strange.
          I configure a Trigger. I see it.
          So i go to Monitoring->Triggers.
          Group: all .... Host: all
          No Trigger I found.

          Why ?

Maybe because the Trigger has not come to PROBLEM state yet?

            Best Regards,
            Ingus

Just small note - Exchange has strong rules about receiving email from the recipient which not exist in his database.

Ask your Exchange guru how to setup the SMTP relay for Zabbix Server email notifications.
                Sincerely yours,
                Aleksey

Some information for email debugging is available in the frontend. I am not sure, since what Zabbix version this information is in there, in the freshest 2.4 it's available.

Go to Monitoring --> Events and click an event, that should produce an email. Event details page should open and "Message actions" section should have some information about emails sent.
If it's empty, it means some misconfiguration - for some reasons Zabbix decided that it should no send an email.
If there is an error, there should be additional information in the mouse tooltip in Info column.
If it's saying OK, it means that email was delivered to the SMTP server and problem is with this server.
