Zabbix to get MAC address tables from switches

    Hi,
I'm trying to find a way to get the MAC address tables from our switch estate. The reason that we need to do this is so that we can track where a device is/has been. Has anyone else done this? I have found this from the Cisco site which is a little helpful but we use Extreme and HP switches (approx 1000).

This document describes how to collect Dynamic Content-Addressable Memory (CAM) entries for Catalyst switches using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I just thought about the same desire and looked up on how to do it and came across this post.

This is pretty difficult because of the way cisco stores and represent the MAC address table. I have no idea how Extreme and HP do that.

Somehow I think this goal would be best accomplished with Elastic, shipping the SNMP data via logstash, do a search on the MAC address and you'll get all the ports the address was seen on.
