Debugging script media types

Any suggestions on debugging custom script media types? Even on DebugLevel 4 I am not seeing anything in my server's logs.

I tried defining my script as such in the UI: "myscript >> /tmp/output.txt 2>&1" ...but that doesn't seem to work.

Monitoring > Events > Event details seems to have info.
