Zabbix 4.0 dedicated server for web service

    hello,

I have been running on a "all in one" zabbix server for some years and the server is starting to loaded and getting unstable. I decided i wanted to move the web service to our Kubernetes environment to save up some resources on the Zabbix server. It all went good and everything was/is working expect that all my Actions are now gone, triggers, discovery jobs everything is gone. I'm currently restoring my database to a point in time before the new web service so i can manually recreate them. Now to my question, Is this normal that a new Zabbix web service will overwrite stuff in an existing database?

Hello and welcome to Zabbix forums!

Separating web server from rest of Zabbix server and DB has nothing to do with actions or anything else you have missing in the DB now. Web server is just connecting to the database and displaying whatever you got there.

Have you by chance not connected to a wrong / another Zabbix instance when you entered the address of the database in the setup step of the new web interface?

      Thank you.

Yes i'm certain that it was the correct database. I restored the database to 1 hour before i added the new web server and all my action triggers and discovery jobs are there.

When i connected the docker web server i forgot to add the correct tag so it was actually running 4.2 (web service) when it connected the first time but i got the database mismatch so i noticed it was running the wrong version and when it was downgraded it connected correctly and all my triggers and discovery jobs were gone. maybe it tried update the database before it got the mismatch?

In neither case the upgrade/downgrade/mismatch would end up in deletion if data.

If you still can access and launch the "deleted" database, maybe in Reports -> Audit page you can find any traces? Or in zabbix_server.log file at that time.

I never deleted the database because i did not want to lose data so i actually recreated all the actions by hand by looking at the backup. I just looked and the audit page and it seems like our API user has deleted these items so its not related to this new web service just a coincidence it happen at the same time.

Thank you for helping solved this out ingus.vilnis
