Zabbix server and MariaDB version compatibility

    Hello,

We would like to update MariaDB (currently) 10.1.x to newer major versions, however checking the docs, it is only mentioned "MariaDB also works with Zabbix" without any version range.
We are currently running zabbix 3.4.2, but are planning upgrade to 4.0 and eventually 4.2.

Does anyone know, if there is any more detailed docs on this ?

P.S. I've been looking into version parity between MariaDB and MySQL, but it is all too confusing to gauge this with confidence

    Shameless bump.

Today I will attempt of migrating zabbix server 3.4.2 to mariadb 10.2 from mariadb 10.1, however would be great to hear from someone who has done it or official stance on this.

Hi mashuma, do you want to share the end of your database upgrade story to other forum followers?

I upgraded my Zabbix database server from Debian 9 Stretch to Debian 10 Buster in November. In the process MariaDB was apparently upgraded from version 10.1.41-0+deb9u1 to 10.3.something, currently it is 10.3.18-0+deb10u1. I didn't notice any problems during or after the upgrades.

I only used the normal Debian stable packages, except Zabbix agent from Zabbix repo. Zabbix server version was 4.0 during the upgrade.

Completely forgot about this thread here. From my memory, there were no issues in compatibility.
We have gone through some more upgrade cycles and now run Zabbix 5.2.1 on 10.5.6-MariaDB
