daily nic traffic

does anyone have idea how to create/implement daily traffic.
bytes sent
bytes received
bytes total

For example net.if.in[{IPADDRESS},bytes]
How to set that it count from 00:00 -- 23:59 and than counting from start or to be smart to continue if during day machine is restarted not to start from zero.

Now I can see how counter is rising.

If anyone have any idea that would be great.

I think, you could create a calculated item, that calculates sum of traffic for 24 hours. The only problem is how to make this item to get updated at exact time. You probably can put this item to a dummy host, that has maintenance without data collection for almost all the day, except one minute around midnight.
