Issue with template for active agent

    Hello!

I am trying to monitor external machines (clients) behind a different company's firewall. I have configured the Zabbix agent to use Active Checks, and I have created an action that automatically auto registers clients that call home to the server. The clients appear in the Zabbix dashboard, so this part works as intended.

All clients are Ubuntu machines. The server is Ubuntu as well.

I have cloned the Linux OS Template and the ICMP Ping template, and Mass Updated the agent there to Agent Active instead of the regular Agent.

The templates that are added are the active ones.

Still, with this, I am getting an error on the clients that they don't answer ping.

I have opened the local firewall on the clients, but haven't done anything on the networks firewall since it is not ours.

As far as I've read this set up should be working without more configuration.

When I check latest data on the client it is able to report several items, so the Linux OS Active template works. But it failed to receive any result from the ICMP Ping checks. At this moment of time I write this the last time it checked for ICMP was almost 1 hour ago. It should check every 30 sec.

Does anyone see anything I've missed here?

Put behind that firewall zabbix proxy and proxy will be pinging monitored hosts.
Wit that you will have only one connectivity to armour from security point of view.
Wit that proxy needs to be setup as active one. Agent monitoring can be both passive and active.
