    Receiving SNMP Traps in Texts

    Hello guys!

I recently installed and configured a Zabbix server to receive SNMP traps.
Received test traps show mainly OID strings, but I would want to receive traps as texts that explains the problem trapped.

Any one with any idea on how I can resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance for you help.

You have all the information you need in that trap item.
You can parse some text with preprocessing mechanism, so that in item is saved only what you need.
If you need to extract some text in alarm, you can use regex on macro inside trigger title/tag/description.
If you need to convert numeric OID into description OID that copy your MIB file to OS MIB path and restart Zabbix server.

Can you explain in more details what exactly do you need?

Hello and thank you for taking out time to comment on my post.

I have not really explored the preprocessing mechanism option you mention but I will look it up.

As you can see in the visual I uploaded, trap output is displaying a litany of snmp strings.
That way, I don't understand what the problem is unless I look up those strings.
I am hoping there is a way to configure Zabbix to display traps received as texts rather than as snmp strings.

      Thank you.

You can do that with regex in preprocessing step.
