Upgrade procedure from 4.2 to 4.4. How not to lose data?

    Hello,

I want to upgrade Zabbix from 4.2 to 4.4.

If I understand correctly Zabbix server and proxy must have the same version.

How to upgrade zabbix to have continuity of collected data. The server upgrade can take several minutes, hours. Backup db, then db upgrade ....

I was hoping that during the server upgrade, proxies would collect data.

The proxy will cache the data and deliver it, when version is in sync again.

      Are you sure?

Zabbix server and proxies must be of the same major version. Therefore, in a server-proxy setup, Zabbix server and all proxies have to be stopped and upgraded. Keeping proxies running during server upgrade no longer will bring any benefit as during proxy upgrade their old data will be discarded and no new data will be gathered until proxy configuration is synced with server.

        Yes I am.
While you update the zabbix-server the proxy keeps collecting. After upgrading the proxy it will deliver the data it collected while the server was updating to the server.
While the proxy is offline, it won't collect data, so this should be an more or less fast update :-)

We did this yesterday. Our proxies also have a psql DB to cache their stuff.
