    Zabbix Remote monitor?

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone could shed some light what im trying to do, currently i have zabbix working monitor.mydomain.com the idea is that mi clients which are externally can connect to monitor.mydomain.com, i was reading about the proxy setting on zabbix but also read that there is no email alert not sure if thats true?
I was testing out installing the MSI package on windows server and put the IP monitor.mydomain.com but the issue is that on that remote site there are around 10 computers so not sure how would that work out?
Already NATed the port 10050 and i can access the webGUI monitor.mydomain.com

    Thank you

If you don't have a vpn connection between zabbix location and monitored hosts location the best alternative would be to set-up a zabbix proxy in the monitored location, otherwise you need to put a different port on each zabbix agent and nat all those ports.

      1) Zabbix proxy is another machine (separated from zabbix server) which collects items from zabbix agent monitored hosts and send those values on zabbix server. After those values are sent to the server you can use them as you want (triggers, e-mail, etc).
      2) Which Package? The agent one? So you re installing zabbix agent on 10 monitored hosts, that's correct?
      3) You can use cryptography in traffic between agents and server.

1berto thanks for the reply, 1) i was thinking about the zabbix proxy but then i realized that on my clients servers i can NAT the ports so in theory if adding my clients WANIP on my zabbix server should work
        2) yes correct around 10 servers i would change the port on the zabbix agent and NAT the each port

        thank you

For passive checks from client side need to be nat-ed/opened port 10050, for active check from zabbix server side (your side) need to be opened port 10051
          You try to test passive check with zabbix_get? Ex.: zabbix_get -s client_wan_ip -k system.cpu.load[percpu,avg1]
Telnet is working to client wan for 10050 port?

thanks for the reply, for the email alerts im guessing it needs to be active checks, but because the servers are going to have different ports because im going to NAT so it can be 10053-10065 ports using that range on each server.

this is an example i telneted my clients server

            root@monitor:~# telnet 201.xx.xx.xx 10051
            Trying 201.xx.xx.xx...
            Connected to 201.2.xx.xx.

So i tried connecting a computer inside by the internal, but not even that works. So i think it might be a zabbix issue on the server is there a way i can troubleshoot this?
