zabbix server host with hostname as VIP adress doesn't work with active checks

Hello,

i started building a High available zabbix environment thanks to the helpful talk of Edmunds Vesmanis at zabbix summit 2019.

i'm at the point where i have everything running and have added all the nodes in the HA setup as hosts in zabbix and that is working fine both passive and active checks working fine.

one point i'm stuck at though is the zabbix server host:

for the host zabbix server i have entered the Virtual IP address that floats between the three zabbix server nodes as host name.
this works fine with all the default monitoring checks except the one Zabbix agent (active) check that does zabbix agent ping this one stays stuck in the queue.

maybe it's best to disable the the one active check because it won't work on this particular VIP and i doubt i will monitor anything active through this host since i everything else i could monitor through the actual server nodes.
but part of me wants to get it to work.

does anyone have any ideas or tips?

maybe check the source IP of the agent ? i remeber my days playing with pacemaker I needed to setup the VIP in source IP adresss to get some checks working
