Zabbix Monitoring for a certain time range

Is it possible to configure Zabbix such that it monitors a system during a certain time range? For example if a particular file is present in the monitored system then Zabbix won't be monitoring certain hosts. When that particular file is not present it'll again start monitoring those hosts? Thanks in advance for any help.

Is it possible to configure such that the maintenance activity is not time dependent instead dependent on the presence of a file?

You can use API to control the maintenance period or use API to control the host monitor status directly.
