    Email notification setup 101

I'm trying to start using email notifications, and having trouble wrapping my head around the whole setup. The notifications are currently not being received.
I believe email settings are fine, as the test emails from zabbix email 'media' go through fine to the zabbix administrator email address.
I'm focusing on one random item for now, just to keep it simple - vm.memory.size[pused]. I've tried setting the trigger to =70, >70, >10 even. Also, with and without a recovery expression. Screenshots attached. Please advise what I'm missing. Thank you in advance.

      Hello acatic1,

In my case I needed to set up media for each user I wanted to get notifications

Open your Zabbix web page. Click Administration Menu Item >> Click Users Menu Item >> Select a User >> Click Media Menu Item

You should be able to figure out from there.

      Good luck!

Hi skygizmo. Sadly my issue is somewhat different. I do have the media items. Crazy q, but would you have a moment sometime this Saturday to teamviewer with me and see what I'm missing? I'm almost positive it's something simple I'm overlooking.

Event Details summary... showing the trigger does work, but the 'email' action doesn't appear to be linked to it. Hovering over the 'Action' exclamation mark just says 'Problem created'.

            I *believe* I have progress.
After taking some quiet time to read the documentation more slowly, I had to change the source for the action:
To configure an action, do the following:
            • Go to Configuration → Actions
            • ***From the Event source dropdown select the required source***
            https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...cations/action

Mine was on 'Auto registration', not 'Triggers'.

The only condition I specified was 'Trigger severity is greater than or equals Warning', and the operation was set to 'start in - immediately'.

            This action shows as 'Enabled'

With that said, I'm still not receiving emails. I rebooted the zabbix server after the change too, just in case. Also ran 'check now' for the triggered item.

              ... and we have success.
The remaining issue was that the user I was testing with was not fully provisioned in Zabbix. I had created the user, set the password, and enabled it for 24/7 notifications of all types, but hadn't yet logged in with it nor gave it permissions over things. However, it was a member of Zabbix administrators, which I thought would have been enough.

Looks like you figured it out. Zabbix seems solid but the documentation is challenging at times.
