How to do a mass acknowledgement

I am looking for a way to do a mass acknowledgment of an item with a trigger. I set up an item and trigger to alert when windows systems are more than 60 days old. One of our customers has held up OS updates, which caused the trigger to tripped. My management wants to keep the template in place that contains this item across all systems, but ask if there was a way to acknowledge these alerts and lower the severity so it can then be filtered off the problem screen.
Does anyone have a idea how we can do this?
