Help newbie about notifications

Dear all,

I am trying to configure a notification email for a web site. I can stop, start website but no email alert to my email. Please help how to configure a notification email?

I set user admin with media type is email.
I created new action with receive email.
I set media type is email smtp: localhost and I tested command "mail" successful on Cent0S 6.5.

I don't know how set conditions on action when the web stop and start. Please tell set up notification by email.

Hi,

If the Action takes place and the Issue is reported in the Dashboard in the "Last 20 issues" menu, is there some number in the "Actions" column? If the number is green, the e-mail was sent successfully. If the number is red, it was not sent and it could show you why (at least in the zabbix log). And if there is no number, the action/conditions are not set properly and Zabbix is not trying to send the e-mail...

I'm having a similiar problem where it looks like I have everything setup correctly but it's not sending out the email notifications.
I looked at teh last 20 issues & there is a red #5 on one issue & a red #7 on the other issue.
Where are the Zabbix logs so I can see why it didn't email out?
I take it you are not talking about the Windows Event Logs on the Zabbix Server are you??

Did you edit the media type to set the snmp settings? Zabbix doesn't use the shell mail command.

If you mean under Admin > Media types, Yes. It looks like I have that setup correctly.

I may have misspoke earlier. The red error #'s 5 & 7 that I'm seeing are being set off by other monitoring.

However, I have a SQL job I can start and have fail. Whenever that runs and fails I can see the alert under Monitoring > Latest Data > History. But, I don't see it displayed under Monitoring > Dashboard > Last 20 Issues.

So, my guess is I don't have something setup correctly to even have it show in the "Last 20 Issues"??

I hope you are able to reply again & hope this helps you determine where my problem is.

Yes, but it's for Processor Load too high on Zabbix Server. It's occurring a few every minute. There's a lot in there. I tried to use the Search box in the top right but even when I search for Processor Load nothing comes back......

Hi,

required steps for email notifications:

Configure SMTP:
- Administration / Media types / Email

Action
- Configuration / Actions / .... Operations (send email)
(e.g. Send message to users: servis (servis servis) via Email Zabbix)
- status enabled

Also try testing smtp from a command line.

The Zabbix log is (in my case):
- /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_server.log

Email Notification

OK, after finally getting our Triggers, etc. all setup correctly we were able to get the email notifications to work as well.
Everything was setup correctly except in one place. We still needed to go to the user account & under the Media type we needed to add the email address on the "Send to" line.
If anyone else is having this issues & isn't sure where to go to what to do feel free to contact me.

Too many email notifications

Ok, now we are receiving too many emails. I'm causing a SQL job to fail > Zabbix picks it up & I see it multiple times in the Zabbix UI & I'm receiving way too many emails for just one Event from the Event logs. I actually received about 20 of the same exact email notifications w/in 10 minutes until the last one had "OK" at the beginning of the subject line where it was saying "PROBLEM" for the first 20.......
I can't find where in the Action or anywhere else where I can only get it to email just once for each Event from the Windows Event log.
Any help is much appreciated!!??
