    bit rate graphs using outoctets

I configured an item to collect ifoutoctets from ALE 6450 (AOS 6) with preprocessing of 8 times value (to get bits) and change per second. When I compare the Zabbix graph with wireshark for the same switch interface, the zabbix rate is at least an order of magnitude lower than wireshark (10x at least different). Both Item samples and wireshark graph are on 1 second intervals. it's critical that Zabbix presents accurate information relative to bitrate.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations you may give. I'm using Zabbix 4.4.

It may be bad form to reply to my own issue but no one else is responding. In my google searches about this, I saw someone mention multiplier of 8 (octet to bits) * 10 or 80 total for the multiplier. I have no clue where the 10 comes from *but* when I use 80 vs 8 in my preprocessing multiplier the results are much closer to what I see on the switch using show interface counters (and looking at the outBits/s).

Anyone have any idea if a multiplier on ifOutOctets = 80 is right? If I use 8, basic comparison of the graph as compared with the stats on the switch are off at least by tenfold.

Please reply if you have any insights. It's critical I reflect an accurate bandwidth number.

    Thank you.
