Server still using old template

I just cloned the OS linux template using the full clone option to create a template for my db servers. I unlinked the original template, and linked one of my database servers to the cloned template.

The original template had a trigger defined to fire when number of processes was greater than 700. I edited the new template so that it would not fire until the number of processes is over 900. I'm still receiving errors when there are about 750 processes. When I look at the server on the zabbix web console, it shows it's linked to the new template. I would not expect to see the errors.

I did a restart of the Zabbix server to reload config, but no joy. What should I check to debug this issue?

Could it be that you 'Unlink' (not 'Unlink and clear') the unwanted template and the expression of the trigger in question between the two templates was different at link time?
If so, then you now probably have both triggers. The former one on host level and the new one inherited by the new template.

Btw, when just wanting different thresholds, then using User macros possibly in connection with Template nesting is more efficient.

Thanks for your response. Macros and Template Nesting is beyond my skill level at the moment, but I will look into them. If I unlink and clear the current template, and then re-link, I should link to the new trigger value, correct?

Entities are only (re-)linked from host to template when respective uniqueness criteria are met.
Did you already take a look at Linking/unlinking? There you should find all you need to know regarding linking of templates.
