Vmware monitoring

Hello !

i want to monitor my 2 esxi servers. In zabbix manual i can read : For virtual machine monitoring to work, Zabbix should be compiled with the --with-libxml2 and --with-libcurl compilation options. This is like chinese langage for me

What must i EXACTLY do to activate vmware items ?

I m using zabbix 2.4.1 on ubuntu

What they are referring to is the installation instructions located here:

say to compile the source code with those options. So in the above link, one of the first things you do is extract the source code and cd into the directory where the configure command is, and then you run the command:

./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --enable-ipv6 --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl --with-libxml2

I'm in the process of trying to monitor some vmware systems to and once successful, I'll post some more information here. I'm reading through the docs now here at:

But it glosses over the "vmware collector" process so hopefully I'll be able to find more info.
