Zabbix - Emailing Issues

I'm having issues with setting up email with Zabbix. I'm getting a "Connection timeout of 3 seconds exceeded when connecting to Zabbix server "localhost"." which I'm not quite sure why I'm getting it? Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be great.

Is your server configured to resolve to the name localhost?
If so, is the mail server running on a host that can connect to that localhost?
Depending on the environment, it may work by changing the localhost in the Media Email settings to an IP address such as 127.0.0.1.
