Zabbix appliance backup - automated

Does anyone have any guidance for me on automatic backups of Zabbix, that apply well to the "appliance"?

Background:
- very new to Zabbix and Linux
- installed on physical hardware from the appliance ISO
- all working well, but now want to secure the data before progressing with usage
- we use Arcserve UDP for other system backups
- running version 4.4.4 of Zabbix

I looked into using Arcserve and while supported, it seems to require a Linux backup server to be configured. As this is the only Linux machine in the network that seems like overkill, so looking for alternative methods.

I went down the Arcserve backup route with this in the end, but it requires to be run as "root"

As I am running the Appliance I dont think root is enabled / allowed - can anyone assist?
