    Zabbix on another Sigments

    Hello all,
    I have managed to configure Zabbix server.
    I can now monitor my windows machine servers for an active process and services state.
    However, the windows machines I have succeeded to monitor are only the servers located on the same LAN with the Zabbix server.
    I would like to accomplish monitoring other servers as well which located on a different segments for example :
    Zabbix server on 192.168.1.x with 192.168.1.1 and other Windows machines are on 172.17.17.x
    Is it possible? Assuming the port 10050 is open in between the two segments.
    Is there anything I should configure on the Zabbix server? Maybe some conf file to edit? When I try to monitor one of the servers which in the other segment I get a red Z on the availability field and the error: "Get value from agent failed:ZBX_TCP_READ() failed: [104] Connection reset by peer."
    It means that from some reason the Zabbix server and the agent are not communicating but I do not understand why.
    Please help
    Thanks in advance.

    Let's start from the scratch.
    Did you check ping and traceroute?
    Does your Zabbix Server can ping any server from different network subnet and vice verse? I mean, did you try to ping Zabbix Server from any "Windows machines are on 172.17.17.x" ?

    After you get the network connectivity confirmation, you can start checking Firewall rules : on Zabbix Server, on any router between two segments, on remote Windows Machine.

    Your goal is to get telnet connection from remote PC to Zabbix server:
    Code:
    C:> telnet zabbix 10050
    you have to get the empty screen as a result of successful connection.
    Any error messages has to be solved.

    And then you can check Zabbix Agents issue. Only when you will be sure, that network connectivity exists and port are opened.
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

      Telnet

      Hi
      Telnet is working from Zabbix Server to Windows Machine perfectly.
      Telnet from Windows machine to Zabbix server works as well.
      No ping in between the zabbix server and windows machine for security issue...
      The two servers are not on the same segment as I mentioned, and not on the same Domain/workgroup.
      They only can access each other via the 10050 port.
      Still no Luck.I get the same error on the zabbix server.

      Screenshots attached.
      Any other Idea please?

      Thank again

                  hi

                  I mean how can I copy the log file to windows machine so I can Upload it here?
                  cat command only display the log on the screen.
                  I would likr to copy the log file to a windows machine.
                  Moreover, I am unable to find the server log in that directory .
                  There is only the agnedt log

                  There is only for /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.log
                  and there is /var/log/zabbixs/zabbix_server.log

                  how should I transfer the files to another windows machine so I will be able to post them .
                  Please help

                        you put here log zabbix_agentd.log of zabbix server

                        put log of Windows agent: zabbix_agentd.log

                          Log

                          Hi,

                          The log on the windows agent does not say anything special:

                          Log Start:

                          2812:20141125:125515.390 Starting Zabbix Agent [172.18.18.8]. Zabbix 2.4.1 (revision 49637).
                          2812:20141125:125515.390 using configuration file: C:\Zabbix\zabbix_agentd.win.conf
                          2812:20141125:125515.390 agent #0 started [main process]
                          2092:20141125:125515.390 agent #1 started [collector]
                          272:20141125:125515.390 agent #2 started[listener #1]
                          3084:20141125:125515.390 agent #3 started[listener #2]
                          3740:20141125:125515.390 agent #4 started[listener #3]

                          Log End:
                          I tried to restart the agent service and also restart the zabbix server but it seems that nothing is being logged in the agent.....:-(

                          Here is the zabbix_agentd.win.conf file I have on the windows agent machine:

                          Server=x.x.x.x ( ip of zabbix server )
                          Hostname=Servername
                          LogFile=c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log
                          DebugLevel=3
                          EnableRemoteCommands=1
                          ListenPort=10050

                          I would like to mention that only TCP Port 10050 is open in between the server and the windows agent machine.
                          No Ping or any other port.
                          Please advise.
                          Thank You so much!

                            Did you put exactly the same name in Zabbix server host configuration ?

                              hi

                              Acctually I put ip address like this:
                              server= ip of the zabbix server
                              Hostname=172.16.103.2

                              The reason for that is the windows agent machine and the zabbix machine are not on the same domain/workgroup so ther is no DNS in between them ...
                              Should it be a problem?
