Check if FTP is accepting connections

    Hello Folks,

i am trying to monitor an external ftp server on which i cannot place an agent.

so my current try is using a simple check:
    Code:
    net.tcp.service[ftp,5.196.225.109,21]
this works temporary only when the interval is set to 10 seconds, increasing it to 60 breaks it and the ftp seeme to be unavailable.

    Any solutions to this problem?
    Or Maybe a workaround?

    So long

Did you try to use short form of parameters?
    like:
    Code:
    net.tcp.service[ftp,5.196.225.109]
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

Tried, changed nothing, accept it does not seem to ping.

maybe the trigger is also wrong?

      {provativ-webserver:net.tcp.service[ftp,5.196.225.109].now(300)}=0

        Sorry for misunderstanding, but from

        I got that
        Code:
now - Returns number of seconds since the Epoch (00:00:00 UTC, January 1, 1970).
Why you try to control "number of seconds" for FTP connection?

Please, describe me, which kind of event do you want to control.
The freshest state of FTP connection? use .last(0)
The amount of time when FTP wasn't available in last 5 min? count(600,1,"lt")
If FTP-connection was lost for last 5 minutes? use max(300)<1
        Sincerely yours,
        Aleksey

I am trying to check if the server 5.196.225.109 is accepting ftp connections. And if it is not available for 5 minutes it should trigger a warning.

          Latest try:

          net.tcp.service[ftp,5.196.225.109,21]
          {provativ-webserver:net.tcp.service[ftp,5.196.225.109,21].max(300)}<1

I am not reciving anypositiv date from the item.

I did test configuration and I'm sure that it's working.
            Item configuration:

            Trigger configuration:

I stumbled on this post when i was checking for examples monitoring a service on a remote server, and discovered that the original poster has a wrong item-type. net.tcp.service is NOT a simple check, it is a normal Zabbix agent item...

The template I'm using shows that as a simple check. I changed it to a Zabbix Agent Item. I'd like a notification if the FileZilla FTP server is down and I'd like to be able to track concurrent connections and produce graphs.

                Any suggestions?

OK, got the notifications working. Anyone have any idea how to track concurrent connections to the FTP server?
