Hots - SNMP Interfaces - automatic creation?

    Hello guys,

    What I do:

Running Actions based on Discovery results that add a template for Cisco SNMPv2

    My Problem:

I have hundreds of Hosts discovered and the template only works if the SNMP Interface is defined.

    My Question:

Is it possible to add the SNMP Interfaces automatically?
At the moment I need to copy down the information of Agent interfaces of each host step by step to get the SNMP Interfaces working with the template.
The step is always the same so I thought about an Action but there is none ... or I did not find one.

    Any suggestions for this?

    Many thanks!
    Regards,
    Christian

When hosts are added as a result of network discovery, they get interfaces created according to these rules:
    • the services detected - for example, if an SNMP check succeeded, an SNMP interface will be created

Ok, I think I got it.

So I extend my discovery like this:

      Check type: SNMPv1 agent
      Port range: 161
      SNMP Community: ****
SNMP OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 <-- Uptime for CISCO IOS Template

and if it finds something on this OID and the community via SNMP I will see it in the discovery rules and an interface will be added to that host?

Regards and many thanks for the quick reply.

      Works!

Looks like the wrong OID was the problem.

Now I have the SNMP Interfaces in my Hosts added automatically.

      One last question regarding Actions:

      I have two Actions:

      Action 1:
      Conditions:
Discovery check equals 100 Network: ICMP ping

      Operations:
      Add host
Add to host groups: 100 Network
Link to templates: Template Module ICMP Ping
      Set host inventory mode: Automatic

      Action 2:
      Conditions:
Discovery check equals 100 Network: Telnet

      Operations
Link to templates: Template Net Cisco IOS SNMPv2
Unlink from templates: Template Module ICMP Ping

Did I create an endless loop in here?

Action 1 is always triggering as ICMP Ping is always available.
Action 2 only triggers if Telnet is available.

      Regards and thx,
      Christian
