Hello,
I wanted to ask if anyone has a good solution for the following problem:
We have a zabbix server monitoring our data center equipment. We recently created geographically dispersed pods on aws and we want to monitor these as well. We need a solution to cover for all the following requirements:
- Have the ability to monitor, display and alert from the pods independently. If the communication between the PODs and the data center goes down, the monitoring console at the pod should be able to display the POD's current alerts and also notify us through opsgenie. When the link comes back up again then the master monitoring infrastructure at our data center should be updated with the missing POD info.
- Have a central console with all the alerts/notifications at the data center (current zabbix installation) which includes the aws pods. We should be able to do acks and other management tasks on the master console and have them propagated to the POD's systems. We don't want to go to each POD's console in order to enable global maintenance.
The solution proposed, using proxies, unfortunately cannot alert from the PODs themselves once the DC-POD link goes down or even when the master zabbix server becomes unreachable for the PODs.
Can this be done with zabbix? We have done a POC with prometheus and karma and we managed to achieve this quite easily.

with zabbix you need to have one central zabbix server, there is no federation option right now - so I dont think youll be able to it with zabbix easily
