Zabbix appliance that is simultaneously server and agent (kind of)

Hello.

I'm running a virtual machine ubuntu 18.04 on virtual box. I'm using zabbix-appliance docker image to run a zabbix server.

Now, is it possible to monitor this machine with just that, or do I need to configure an additional zabbix-agent?

I tried docker inspecting the zabbix-appliance container and using its IPAddress in Configuration -> Hosts but it is obviously not working.

I'm not familiar with your environment, but I'm running a VHD appliance on Hyper-V and I had to install an agent on the host. https://www.zabbix.com/download_agents

Thank you for your response.

I do know that installing an agent would help, but I am wondering if there's a way to do it without an agent. I'm almost certain it's not, but I want to be sure.
