    Changing the installation of the Zabbix server

    Hello

    Here where I work we have the installation in the configuration below;
    1 Zabbix server (version 4.0) running on MySQL database
    1 Zabbix proxy (version 4.0) installed in a remote office
    Approximately 150 agents installed with random versions for RHEL, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows servers.

    We are preparing a new installation of the Zabbix server to run on an Oracle database so that the Oracle database team here where I work will manage and take care of this database. However, when I consulted the documentation, I saw two great observations that left me a little confused, because I want to prepare and install this new environment already in a more current version (4.2 onwards) than the one I am using (4.0).

    As I understand it, if I install a new environment more updated the current proxies will not be able to report data for this new installation (above version 4.0), is that it?

    The other doubt is that second observation .. gave me a double understanding .. does it mean that "old" agents (up to version 4.0) do not work on installations higher than version 4.0 (4.2 onwards) or that agents above version 4.0 ( 4.2 and up) do not work on "old" installations of the Zabbix server (4.0 and earlier)? Or even if you are only referring to new generations of agents (agent2) that do not work on versions 4.0 and earlier of the Zabbix server.

    Can anyone help me with these doubts?
