Monitoring external hosts without public IPs/Proxy Server

    Hi all,

Sorry for such a dumb-found question like.

But, is there any other way we can monitor external hosts with the Zabbix Agent, without the requirements for Public IP/Proxy Server? Icinga does this perfectly well, but because nobody knows the infrastructure, we need to move over to something everyone can work and fix if required which is why we choose Zabbix.

But reading up on the monitoring, I can only see it via public IPs or Proxy servers which isn't viable for us, our external clients Hyper visor is specced for their VMs and doesn't have the spare resources for any further VMs, nor can we attach any public IPs due to the nature of the servers.

I have seen people mention PAT, which maybe the only way around this but it can cause more of a work-load and become messy which is what I want to try and prevent, so is there any other way? Or is Zabbix looking to address this in the future? (If Icinga can, then surely Zabbix being a better/bigger and more widely used platform surely can?) Icinga is also agent based like Zabbix.

    Kind Regards,

    James

Sorry for the bump, but just wondering if anyone may have any ideas about this?
