Monitoring Iomega/Lenovo ix2 and other NAS devices

    Hi.
I'm trying to have Zabbix 2.2 check my network disk storage.
From what I could gather around the official Template SNMP Device template should be fine, but when I add my host to Zabbix linked to that template nothing comes in.
Well, to be exact I just get a NTP service check with result 0 on the host, but nothing else.
I'm sure SNMP is working on the device because I'm currently monitoring with Icinga and the check_storcenter.sh script works.

And I'm sure Zabbix SNMP is working because the pfSense template is gathering data, and it's based on SNMP.

Is there anything else I should do to do monitoring on those devices?
    thanks

If you have non standard SNMP community - you have to add it for the Host on Macro tab:
    Code:
    {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} -> notPublicCommunity
Also, check the Discovery Interface interval - if it 3600 sec or more, new Items will be created only after first hour or later.
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

the current check script has no special community, and the NAS has no setting for that, so I assume public is correct!

        wait a minute.

Do you use a different monitoring system with different monitoring script ?
        (Icinga & check_storcenter.sh)

And now you want to monitor that device on Zabbix with standard template?

Well, it usually works, but for different devices you have to use the Templates, specifically tuned to that device.
For example, your device use OID , started from .1.3.6.1.4.1.1139.*, which is not usual SNMP OID.

So, the best way will be to create your own template (specifically for EMC/iomega storcenter) and share it with us.
        Sincerely yours,
        Aleksey

check_storcenter.sh is the script used by icinga.

My first post was to understand if anyone else solved this before, but I'll be happy to create the template for those NASes. I just need to find named OID instead of numerical...

I prefer to use numeric OID instead of named.
Sometimes, you have to do a lot to use named OID (downloading specific MIB, connecting it to monitoring system, etc)

PS Check this link - http://www.oidview.com/mibs/1139/EMC-MIB.html
It's a full EMC MIB, with "descriptions and numbers".
            Sincerely yours,
            Aleksey

thanks! I will have a look.

OT: do you know how to create an item by extracting the value from a string? I have this value for the uptime key:
              Code:
              Timeticks: (302640271) 35 days, 0:40:02.71
but the useful data is the number between parenthesis...

For the Device Uptime there are a special Units - uptime
Take a look on "Template SNMP Generic" -> Device uptime.

Here it comes! With autodiscovery rules for disks!
I'm testing it for some days then I'll publish it

                          Hello,

excuse the question may sound stupid .... but that template you used? Your own custom or a "public"? If you have used a "yours", you share it?
                          I thank you in advance...
