inventory auto-populate issue

Hi everyone,

I am new in this forum and I am very new Zabbix as well. Installed 5.0 LTS 2 days ago and got auto discovery going without much issues. in the auto registration action, I enabled inventory to be automatic, see attached screenshot ( filename: screen-auto-registration.png). But, I only see one field populated, when I lookup any hosts in inventory->hosts section, i see only 2 fields populated. See attached screenshot (filename: screen-host-inventory.png).

Then I wanted added an 'Item' in 'Template OS Linux by Zabbix agent active' ( which is a linked template in 'Template OS Linux by Zabbix agent active' ). This "Item" is for getting Vendor field for host inventory. But, the 'Vendor' filed is still empty ( see attached image: screen-vendor-field.png ).

How do I get some of inventory fields populated automatically? I am looking for vendor, serial #, Model -- just a few fields populated.

Have you reviewed the "Comments" field for the system.hw.chassis[] item in the documentation: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...s/zabbix_agent

No, I have not. Still new to zabbix world , exploring as much time as I can put in.

are there any helpful sites, or tutorials on how to write custom monitoring alerts, etc ? that might be helpful to me.

@Hamardaban huh... i knew about that site to begin with. thanks for your help. zabbix 5.0 documentation does not exactly help navigate the menu with the new 5.0 UI, I think a lot of documentation was just copy/paste from 4.0 without actually a 5.0 based revision.
