    Network devices monitoring

    Dears,

I have two models of switches (catalyst 9200 and catalyst 9300) - I took the template Template Net Cisco IOS SNMPv2 and cloned it with all the linked templates and changed snmp v2 to snmp v3 and supplied credentials ...

The template was able to pick up interfaces data for the catalyst 9300 ...
But for catalyst 9200... it could not pick up the interfaces ... and only picked up much less data than that was picked up for 9300... what could be reason and how to fix this ?

    Thank you

Could be multiple things, but the best explanation is either 1. the 9200 does not support the OID like the 9300 does OR (more probable), The 9200 is using different OIDs for the same content retrieval.

What I have had to do on many different devices is use SNMPWALK.

From your Zabbix server console, use this command and pipe it to a text file so you can review the data and find the correct OIDs: (and you can use this for any SNMP enabled device to find good data to pull into Zabbix)

    snmpwalk -v [1, 2c or 3] -c [community string] [ip address of device] > SomeFile.txt
