Historical Data Disappearing after 24 hours.

Hello, I am using zabbix 2.2.6 and am seeing something unusual with the 'latest data'. I am monitoring 2000+ hosts, so each day, more than likely, something goes down.

If its within 24 hours of going down, when I check the 'latest' data it shows all my items (In the template I am using I have 19 items I am checking like: Names, Power levels, Hardware type, ping response time, ping availability, etc). They are a mix of snmpv1 & 2 checks, external scripts and simple checks)

But after 24 hours when I check the host. It is down to 2 items, (ping availabity and ping response time) (both will be 0). & I am unable to even find the historical data for all of the other items, its like they were deleted.

Whats strange is that I have my history for the items set to a minimum of 90 days, and trends are set to a minimum of 365 days. So why would this data be deleted?

Whats even more strange is I migrated the template for the items from zabbix 1.8, & in zabbix 1.8 all those historical items don't disappear, they are still there, some are grayed out, all post date back to the last valid sample, but they aren't just simply deleted.

Am I missing something? Any clues would be very much appreciated..

    Thanks

    Hi timq1,

I'm not sure if this will help, but under the "Filter" section on the "Latest data" page there is a "Show items without data" checkbox. Try enabling that.

The "Filter" section is very easy to overlook, I know I did initially. It is just above the "Latest data" table (Name, Last check, Last value, Change columns), but a simple "Ctrl+F" find in the browser will highlight it.

If the Item is visible, have you tried looking at the "500 Latest Values"?

You can get there by clicking the "Graph" link of the Item, then choosing "500 Latest Values" from the drop-down menu at the top right of the window.

    Good luck, hope this helps.

      Hi timq1,

Timbo added some good tips for you to check first.

What I wanted to add is whether you use daily partitioning of history tables in your database? If you do, maybe some partitions are deleted or not created automatically?

      Best Regards,
      Ingus

Hey thanks for the reply guys!

It was indeed the filter. I guess that was a new zabbix 2.X option, where the old 1.X just showed all data automatically..

        Much Appreciated..
