Zabbix proxy won't start

please help me
I have been trying to configure the zabbix proxy for a few days but I cannot find a solution.

the proxy log reports the following error message
19643:20200710:085115.298 listener failed: zbx_tcp_listen() fatal error: unable to serve on any address [[-]:10051]

my proxy is configured as a passive proxy (i want to get devices info from my home network by using snmp), in the dashboard i see that zabbix server is running but is under "unknown hosts"

Sorry but it's hard to know
ListenIP parameter in zabbix_proxy.conf is commented, so that "Trapper will listen on all network interfaces" (as specified in the comments)

Sorry I am late to answer this post. Hope that you will be noticed that I answered your post.

I agree with you that the documentation on how to use a proxy server is not the best.
I read all the posts and I have two observations:

1) You wrote on your first post that your proxy was configured as a passive proxy. But in the code you provided for your zabbix_proxy.conf file in the second post the line 'ProxyMode=1' is commented out. So your proxy was running as a 'active proxy'

2) From the remaining of the discussion I believe that your problem was that you did not create a 'proxy host' on you zabbix server. That's the reason why you had those messages:

cannot parse proxy data from[B] active proxy[/B] at "192.168.1.8": missing name of proxy

To create a proxy on the server you use the web interface and go to the Administration->Proxies menu and click on the 'Create a proxy' button.

One last word. Before we decided to use zabbix at my organization, we have tested 3 other products: Whatsup Gold, PRTG and Nagios. Nagios did good but we choose Zabbix because of its versatility.
