New to Zabbix: Template Confusion, Please Help.

Please help me understand templates a little better given the following example:

I am confused as to where to edit a template to have the end result I desire.

I will focus on Windows Service Discovery and my desire to change the keep lost resources period, update interval, and overrides

I feel like there are multiple places to edit template settings.

1: Configuration\Templates\Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent active\Discovery rules\Windows services discovery
2: Configuration\Templates\Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent active\Linked templates\Template Module Windows services by Zabbix agent active\Discovery rules\Windows services discovery
3: Configuration\Hosts\hostname\Discovery rules\Windows services discovery

Which of these paths is the correct one to update all windows hosts that have the "Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent active" assigned with the settings I mentioned above?

I seem to struggle with this at the moment.

Any help is much appreciated.

Someone on reddit was kind enough to explain it to me.

Option #2 is correct. Also, following up to whatever parent template is of a linked template would be where to make changes to affect all the hosts. At least that is what was described to me and it seems to work fine.

I'm actually not so sure anymore. if the example above, I edited trigger prototype description at the parent level but the closest level to the host also has description defined. I found that the level closest to the host seems to override what the parents are configured for.

Can anyone confirm this?

So for example

Parent template - Trigger prototype Description field: Text 1
Child template - Trigger prototype Description field: Text 2
Child template - Trigger Prototype Description field: Text 3
Host - Result for trigger prototype description field is Text 3
