    Having a hell of a time with SNMP traps

    Hey guys,

    I just can't get SNMP traps to work for the life of me, i've followed probably 7 guides now, step by step and adjusting the coding for the locations of my sender's etc to where they actually are located on my server - but nothing works.

    The closest i got was the PERL version on the documentation to collect traps from the zabbix server itself - but when i have a switch send a trap to zabbix it doens't see it.

    Does anyone have an up to date guide i can follow? This is super frustrating.

    The point im at right now, is i followed the guide on the documentation (again). Zabbix sees the trap if i run
    snmptrap -v 1 -c public 127.0.0.1 '.1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.3' '0.0.0.0' 6 33 '55' .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.3 s “teststring000” LOCALLY, but when sending from a cisco/arista it doesn't see them at all.

    I used this one: Start with SNMP traps in Zabbix.

    It works for me with no problems.

      Hey, I have same problems with SNMP traps. Just can't get it working.

      I'm using SNMPTRAPD -> SNMPTT -> ZABBIX procedure.

      I followed also guide above and I alsways ended up with this:

      Zabbix receive trap but I can't see nothing in latest data in that item. Not until i switch "Type information" from "log" to "text". Then I see whole trap.

      Can someone help me please figure out what am I doing wrong?

      Debian with Zabbix 3.0A2

      snmptrapd.conf
      Code:
      traphandle default /usr/sbin/snmptt
      snmptt.ini
      Code:
      date_time_format = %H:%M:%S %Y/%m/%d
      log_file = /var/log/snmptt/snmptt.log
      snmptt.conf
      Code:
      EVENT general .* "General event" Normal
      FORMAT ZBXTRAP $aA $ar Unknown trap
      zabbix_server.conf
      Code:
      SNMPTrapperFile=/var/log/snmptt/snmptt.log
      StartSNMPTrapper=1

      Item:
      Name: SNMP TRAP TEST
      Type: SNMP trap
      Key: snmptrap[.*]
      Type of information: Log
      Log time format: hh:mm:ss yyyy/MM/dd

      With this configuration I dont see any lastest data data received in item SNMP TRAP TEST. When I switch type of informaiton to text, i see whole trap with datestamp as one string in latest data.

      Thanks a lot for any help.

      Neto.

        I see whole trap too. But my alerts send the trigger names and not item value.

        I use as type of information "log" and works.
