    Dell 3110cn snmp

    So I'm moving over from nagios to zabbix because we use zabbix at the office and I really like it. So at home I'm working on migrating. I have some things moved but I need to get my Dell printer moved in. Currently my printer is monitored with http://exchange.nagios.org/directory...-Check/details

    Which works and it gets the job done. Since my printer uses snmp v1 it returns 2 values for the cartridge level. The Max amount and the current amount. These use 2 different OID's. What I'm trying to figure out is how to take value 1 - value 2 = current level and then we can also figure out the % and such and such. I'm no developer but I can fumble through things. I know my printer can also do snmp trap but well I'd rather just have Zabbix probe the thing and report back what the values are. Thank you all in advance for your help with this. I'm sure as I continue to read the documentation and set things up I'll have more questions.

    Hello and welcome to Zabbix forums!

    If you know the OIDs for your printer you can configure them in Zabbix as well. Please have a look at the documentation on how it is done: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...itemtypes/snmp

    Additionally I would suggest you to search the web for "zabbix template Dell <model name>". If you're lucky, you may be able to find some.

    And as the last thing you can try to do snmpwalk against your device and find out all available OIDs from device, find the right ones and add to monitoring.

    But what is it reporting back currently? I suppose it already is the % of level, no?

    Best Regards,
    Ingus

      So currently the OID is stuff like this
      Code:
      iso.3.6.1.2.1.43.11.1.1.6.1.1 = STRING: "Cyan Cartridge"
      And it will report things like the cartridge max is 8000 and the current is 7000 so you can do the math and figure it out.

      Googling for a dell template for zabbix appears to not exist as the only thing that returns in that search is this thread. So I'm still open to all suggestions here or a how to even. Thanks for your help.

        Hi,

        Once you have your OID got monitored then you can set up additional "calculated item" which then can help you to get the percentage.
