Templates with same item prototype and key

Sometimes we find that a particular model of device from a manufacturer requires a very minor change to the template to get the correct values, I would like to just clone the original template, add or change the one item which is different and apply that template to that model of device, however, Zabbix won't let me import the template because in this particular instance:
    • Item prototype "vfs.fs.total[hrStorageSize.{#SNMPINDEX}]" already exists on "Template Net Mikrotik SNMP", linked to another rule.

What is the best way to work with this without renaming all the conflicts?

I'm not trying to apply the two slightly different templates to the same host, I can't even upload the modified version.

    Thanks

Don't clone, and just got with template nesting: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...plates/nesting

    Here's the idea:
    • Template Generic SNMP (Father)
      • Template Net Mikrotik SNMP (Linked To and Inherit From Template Generic SNMP)
        • Template Mikrotik RB2011 (Linked To and Inherit From Template Net Mikrotik SNMP)
        • Template Mikrotik RB3011 (Linked To and Inherit From Template Net Mikrotik SNMP)
        • Template Mikrotik RB4011 (Linked To and Inherit From Template Net Mikrotik SNMP)
And let the discoveries (that create the prototypes) as near the top as you can (I'd myself even create a unique "Template Discovery Network Interfaces SNMP" only with the discovery for nor rare cases).

Probably, nesting templates is a common sense for not repeating yourself / redoing work.
