    Cisco Switches

Is there a way automatically ignore switch ports that are down during a discovery if they have been down for a long period of time? We have 4 28 port switches and not all of the ports are being used so zabbix is reporting a bunch of ethernet links "down". What is the best practices for having these ignored during discovery?

    Thanks

Are the ports that are not in use 'shutdown' on the switch? I've never used Zabbix to monitor cisco gear since we use other things there, but it is fairly common for monitoring system to report an interface as 'down' when it hasn't been admin'd down, and has no connection, but not just report as disabled or to ignore if it has been 'shutdown'.

      Hi,

you can configure discovery rule as follows:
      TYPE:SNMPv2 agent
SNMP OID: ifOperStatus (status of interface, returns 0 if interface is down and 1 when interface is up)
      FILTER: {#SNMPVALUE} REGEXP: 1
So if your interface is down, it won't be included in discovery process.
