Zabbix SNMP Monitoring

Hi All,

I just want to know if Zabbix can do monitoring the device only on the base of SNMP, means if some device not support Zabbix agent like Cisco 2900 Series Switch. So can we monitor these types of devices just by enabling SNMP.

Hi,

Yes, Zabbix can do this. When you create an host in Zabbix frontend, you have 4 different interfaces to choose from:
- Agent interface
- SNMP interface
- JMX interface
- IPMI interface

At default, you should delete the "Agent interface" by clicking on "Remove". You can then click on "Add" in the "SNMP interface" and supply ip and port number.
